North Sea supply vessel market remains tight

    News // November 16, 2001
Offshore Shipbrokers in Aberdeen reports that the spot market in the North Sea remained generally tight during October with a combination of high activity levels and marginal weather conditions keeping availability limited.

The AHTS spot sector softened toward the end of October, however the straight PSV sector has remained tight with larger vessels being fixed as and when they become available.

AHTS rig move day rates ranged between GBP 20,000 to GBP 30,000/35,000 level for the majority of the month, dipping slightly to the mid teens level during the last week of October.

Several smaller AHTS have been securing cargo run work at rates well below GBP10,000 level, once again demonstrating a 'two tier' market between smaller, older vessels and new, 'state of the art' tonnage.
