The Management of IHC Holland has announced that it has received an order from the Jan de Nul group in Belgium for what will be the most powerful self-propelled cutter suction dredger in the world.

The current most powerful self-propelled cutter suction dredger built to date is the 20,000kW Leonardo da Vinci.

The new vessel will have a total installed power of over 27,000 kW with a power at the cutter of 6,000 kW and a total dredge pump power of 15,800kW.

The cutter suction dredger will be built at the IHC shipyard in Kinderdijk, and is due to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2003.
