    Offshore vessels play key role in Kursk salvage

    The Russian nuclear powered submarine Kursk was raised from the seabed in the Barents Sea on 08 October, and began its final journey to shore, clamped under a jumbo barge.

    The Mammoet-Smit International Consortium took approximately 15 hours to complete the operation. The submarine was lifted on steel cables lowered from the barge Giant 4 barge, then clamped beneath the barge.
