Ulstein Verft: new construction hall on stream by year end Yard News
// October 4, 2001
Ulstein Verft says its new construction hall at Ulsteinvik on the western coast of Norway should be completed by the end of 2001. Almost all of the steel structure for the building has been completed already. The new dock hall will provide a more effective working environment, says the yard.
"The new dock and dock hall allow us to take full advantage of our new design and production philosophy, Modular Design, our three-dimensional design tools integrated with the production lines (3D CAD/CAM solutions), and our project planning and pre-outfitting systems, as well as enabling us to optimise production. We will increase our productivity and efficiency and we are reducing our design and construction time," says Vice President Tore Ulstein.
Once the new dock hall has been completed, Ulstein Verft will be able to build ships entirely under cover.
