Nautronix Offshore Technology Group has won the contract to supply dynamic positioning (DP) and acoustic systems for the latest vessel for the George Craig Group. The new 75m vessel will be delivered in March 2003 and demonstrates the Craig Group's commitment to providing the industry with state-of-the-art, multi-purpose, ROV support vessels.
The vessel is to be built at Balenciaga Shipyard in Spain where Nautronix havepreviously worked very successfully.
The package includes the supply of Nautronix' ASK5002 Dynamic Positioning System - the 'dual redundant' version of its fifth generation of dynamic positioning systems. Nautronix will also provide the peripheral equipment and environmental sensors for thedynamic positioning system to allow the vessel to meet Lloyds DP(AA) vessel classification.
The package to be supplied is completed by position reference sensors, which provide vital information without which dynamic positioning is not possible.
North Star Shipping, the vessel division of the George Craig Group, has requested Balenciaga install Nautronix' NASPos (RS925 USBL) System, the latest acoustic positioning system, a fanbeam laser system and a survey quality DGPS system.
The NASPos System uses Nautronix' unique ADS2 (Acoustic Digital Spread Spectrum)signalling technology that allows Nautronix to guarantee performance of the system, unlike acoustic systems with traditional signalling techniques.
The ADSZ signal can provide positioning at a four and a half kilometre (4.5km) range and still provide an accuracy of 0.25% of slant range.
