Dutch-built crewboat for Gulf of Mexico

    Vessel & ROV News // September 7, 2001
Damen Shipyards in the Netherlands has delivered a new crewboat - the Dona Blanca - which has a 'mother and daughter' machinery arrangement. Intended for use in the Gulf of Mexico, the newbuild is 151ft overall and is equipped with all Cummins machinery.

The two inner engines are Cummins KTA19-M4 diesels, whilst the wing engines on either side are Cummins KTA39-M2 units.

The main reason for this arrangement is that this configuration allows for economical operation at lower speeds whilst still producing a top speed of 25.9kt with all four engines operating. The total installed power is 4,100hp. Cummins also provided twin80Kva generators, which are powered by 6B5.9-D(M) diesels.
