Allseas invests in new pipelay vessel

    Vessel & ROV News // August 5, 2005
Allseas in Switzerland has announced that it expects to have a new DP pipelay vessel, Audacia, in service next summer.

In a recent statement, the company said the vessel would be 225m in length (excluding the 100m stinger) with a beam of 32m, thus placing her between Allseas' DP pipelay ships Lorelay and Solitaire, which Allseas has recently upgraded.

Audacia will be capable of installing pipelines up to 44in in diameter, and will a conversion rather than a newbuild. The company said it was in the process of bidding to acquire a Panamax size bulk carrier for conversion into a vessel with speed of 16 knots, 450 tonne bollard pull, accommodation for 350, six retractable 5MW thrusters, three 175 tonne tensioners, a 550 tonne A&R winch and a 300 tonne crane.
