    CSO awarded work on Bonga installation

    Coflexip Stena Offshore says that Coflexip Stena Offshore International has been awarded a significant part of the mooring and installation package for Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company's (SNEPCO) Bonga field development.

    The field is located in Oil Mining Lease 118 some 120km offshore Nigeria's Niger Delta South West coastline in 1,100m of water (3,600ft). The field is operated by SNEPCO (55%) on behalf of Nigerian National Petroleum Company in partnership with Esso Exploration and Production Company Nigeria Ltd (20%), Nigeria Agip Exploration Ltd (12.2%) and Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd (12.5%).

    CSO International's scope will cover project management, engineering, procurement, transportation and installation of three dynamic 19in ID flexibleoil offloading risers, each 2.3km long (7,010ft), for installation betweenthe FPSO and the Single Point Mooring buoy.

    This will constitute the first use of flexibles of such a length as export risers, between an FPSO and an offloading buoy. The 19in ID flexible risers will be manufactured at the Group's Le Trait plant in Normandy, France, during theautumn of 2002.

    In addition, CSO's work includes the project management, engineering and installation in 1,100m water depth of more than 55km of gas lift risers andcontrol umbilicals together with the installation of 5 large manifolds, eachweighing 140t.

    CSO will carry out the work during the summer of 2003, using the CSO Constructor.
