Havila wins 10 year charter deal with Norsk Hydro; to build UT 527

    News // July 19, 2002
Havila Supply ASA's wholly owned subsidiary Havila Supply Ships AS has been awarded a 10 years contract by Norsk Hydro Produksjon AS for multi-field standby duties. The contract also includes three two year options.

To carry out the duties under the contract, Havila plans to build a new type of vessel, a UT 527 designed by Rolls-Royce marine. The start up date for the contract is December 1st 2003 and the value of the contract is estimated to about NOK 470 million.

The contract is a result of the co-operation between Rolls Royce Marine AS and Seabrokers. The design is a new development based on a new type of advanced multi-purpose vessel for Rescue and Recovery duties. In addition to large element of operational flexibility, the vessel will also be one of the most environmentally friendly vessels on the market, claims Havila.

In addition to the new vessel, Havila Runde will also participate in the Rescue and Recovery programme. Havila Runde, a PSV built in 1997, will undergo a limited conversion.
