    Caledonia tie-back contract awarded

    Coflexip Stena Offshore Limited (CSOL) has announced that it has recently commenced anEPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning) contract for ChevronTexaco for the subsea tie-back of the single well Caledonia development to the Britannia platform in the central UK North Sea.

    The project will give ChevronTexaco access to an initial oil production rate of 13,000 barrels per day.

    The contract includes the project management, design, manufacture and installation of an 8in production pipeline with a 4in piggy-backed gas lift pipeline between the Caledonia well and the Britannia platform (total distance of 6.1km).The production pipeline is in the form of an 8in /12in Pipe-in Pipe (PIP) system. A free issue hydro-electric and chemical injection umbilical will also be installed by CSOL.

    CSOL is also responsible for the design, fabrication and installation of the Caledonia wellhead manifold and subsea isolation valve (SSIV) structure located at the Britannia platform. Tie-ins, testing and commissioning support of the completed infrastructure will also be carried out by CSOL.

    The offshore work is due to be completed by 01 October.
