First Wave/Newpark wins contracts from Pride International and Crest

    Yard News // June 24, 2002
First Wave/Newpark Shipbuilding won contracts from Pride International for the refurbishment of four rigs, including the addition of a 28-man accommodation module to one of the rigs.

The work on the Pride South Carolina, Pride Mississippi, Pride Oklahoma and Pride Wisconsin will be performed at First Wave's Pelican Island Facility in Galveston, Texas; all of the rigs are expected to depart the shipyard by mid-August.

First Wave/Newpark Shipbuilding has also announced that it was recently awarded a major contract by Sasaran Perdana Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Crest Petroleum Bhd, for the dry-docking, repair and refurbishment of the semi-submersible tender assisted platform drilling rig Teknik Hidayat.

The refurbishment will also be performed at First Wave's Pelican Island facility and is expected to continue into the fourth quarter 2002. The rig arrived at First Wave in early June.
