    Sonsub awarded Fram Vest contract

    News // June 24, 2002
Sonsub has announced that it has been awarded a contract by Saipem UK for the Fram Vest field, which is located approximately 20km north of the Troll C platform in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea in water depth of approximately 360m. The work is onbehalf of Norsk Hydro.

Fram Vest will be developed with two four-slot subsea well templates. The templates will be tied in to the Troll FPU with two flowlines (gas injection and production) and a service umbilical.

Sonsub says the work will be carried out using the Maxita, before it departs to Singapore for conversion.Maxita has transited from the Gulf of Mexico, after successfully completing work on the Canyon Express project, and was due to arrive in Rotterdam around the end of May, where her carousel and vertical lay tower were due to be removed for storage.

Maxita will mobilise for the Fram Vest project around the end of June having loaded ROVs and project equipment, and will then transit to Langesund, Norway to collect templates manufactured by FMC.

Template Protection Structures (TPS) A1 & A2 will be transported on a Saipem cargo barge from the fabrication facility to Grenland Offshore, Langesund, Norway where the templates are being fabricated.

Maxita will berth alongside the barge and using its crane transfer the templates and one of the Protection Structure (TPS A2) onto its deck. The remaining TPS A1 will then be transported using the same transport barge to Bergen where Maxita will rendezvous after installation on the two templates and TPS A2 to collect TPS A1.
