Dutch yard launches latest Toisa newbuild

    Vessel & ROV News // June 7, 2002
Van der Giessen de-Noord shipyard in the Netherlands has launched the third new build vessel that Toisa Limited has ordered from it in the past four years.

The multi-purpose OSVs Toisa Perseus and Toisa Polaris were handed over to Toisa by the yard in 1998. Similar to the previous vessels, the new vessel is also based on a design developed by Van der Giessen-de Noord and is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system.

To obtain a higher sailing speed than the two near sister vessels, the latest newbuild has a bulbous bow and azimuthing thrusters providing 2 x 3000kW.

The vessel is also fitted with a 400t SWL crane supplied by Huisman Itrec.
