Ulstein establishes its own design company

    News // June 7, 2002
Ulstein in Norway has separated its design department from Ulstein Verft and established its own design company.

The new company has been named Ulstein Design. All seven of the employees from the original design department are now employed by Ulstein Design, and Tore Ulstein is the General Manager of the new company.

Tore Ulstein explained that the group's increased commitment to product development is the main reason behind the creation of an independent design company.

"Our designs have enjoyed positive recognition on the market after we established our own design department in Ulstein Verft in 1999. This gives us the confidence to increase our commitment to developing unique products in the field of ship design," he said.

"The fact that influential companies such as Solstad and Olympic have selected our designs is an acknowledgement of the expertise and quality inherent in our designs," said Tore Ulstein.

By establishing Ulstein Design, the company will be able to sell more designs, while investing more resources in research and development and in marketing the company.

Tore Ulstein said one of the company's key goals is to sell Ulstein Design vessels on the international market from the year 2004 onwards.
