    Wilson applauds Consafe contract

    News // May 24, 2002
UK Energy and Construction Minister, Brian Wilson, has congratulated the company that has built the largest offshore structure ever to be assembled at Aberdeen harbour.

Consafe Engineering is poised to ship a six-storey complex of prefabricated accommodation modules out to sea ready for hoisting by a floating heavy-lift crane on to the Dunbar platform.

During his viewing of the construction, Brian Wilson said: "I am very impressed by this example of what a niche UK fabrication outfitter can achieve with this mixture of design and trade skills".

"In a competitive European market it is encouraging to see British companies winning large contracts such as this. Some are also rightly eager to branch out into new areas, such as pharmaceuticals and nuclear power. This is exactly what the Government, with PILOT, isencouraging the Industry as a whole to do."

The visit to Aberdeen Harbour followed Wilson's keynote address to a joint PILOT-LOGIC conference. Delegates met to discuss ways to change culture and behaviour within the supply chain, to increase competitiveness and promote innovation within a community based on trust.
