    Wilson welcomes gas boost for West of Shetland

    UK Energy Minister, Brian Wilson has announced that gas is to be brought ashore from West of Shetland for the first time shortly. Addressing the Scottish Grand Committee atWestminster, Mr Wilson said: "BP's Magnus-enhanced oil recovery project is evidence of the continuing commitment to major infrastructure projects in the UK sector."

    Gas from BP's Foinaven and Schiehallion fields will be pumped to the Sullom Voe terminal in Shetland. It will then be delivered to the Magnus platform for use in enhances oil recovery operations which will deliver significantly incremental oil reserves.

    West of Shetland's gas will also be available for onward transmission via the northern leg gas pipeline to the UK.
