    Noble Drilling addresses situation on rig in Nigeria

    Noble Drilling has confirmed reports that approximately 20 local individuals had boarded its 250ft ILC jack-up, the Noble Lloyd Noble, which is operating under contract to ChevronTexaco offshore Escravos, Nigeria in West Africa.

    Contrary to reports in the media, no violence or damage to the rig has occurred. As of the time of writing, 46 personnel had been safely released from the rig without incident. However, 43 personnel remain onboard.

    Noble says it remains optimistic that the situation will be resolved amicably.
