    Saddam says Iraq "to stop oil exports"

    Adding to fears about the high price of oil, on 08 April, Iraq's President, Saddam Hussein, announced that he would stop oil exports for a month as a protest against Israel's "offensive" against the Palestinian people.

    Iraq said it would review the situation after 30 days.

    Iraq is not the only country threatening action - Iran's leadership has also called on oil-producing countries to halt exports to Western countries that others that have dealings with Israel.
