    News // March 15, 2002
Chiles Offshore's new jack-up, Chiles Discovery, has been formally named at Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore.

The rig - a KFELS Mod V B class cantilever jack-up - will be capable of working in water depths of up to 375ft and has a cantilever reach of 70ft. Chiles Offshore says the leg length on the rig can also be extended to allow it to work in water depths of390ft.

Chiles says the jack-up's first assignment will be for Phillips Petroleum at the Bayu-Udan field in the Timor Sea, and the rig is expected to leave Singapore on or around 10 April for the Timor Sea.
