    Offshore Shipbrokers Ltd (OSL) in Aberdeen reports that there has been a surge of newbuilding orders during the last couple of months and says it is "sure there are more to come".

    However, the second hand market is not so active at present.Augusta Offshore has placed an order with ISA Production Italy for a newbuilding AHTS with 120 tonnes bollard pull for delivery late 2002.

    Waveney Shipping has ordered a UT755L at Brattvaag Skipsverft AS with delivery April 2003. The building cost is circa NOK 130,000,000.

    Surf has placed an order with Orskov in Denmark for the construction of a UT755L with delivery scheduled November 2002.

    Rimorchiatori Riuniti (Finarge) has placed an order with Havyard Norway for a Moss 424 AHTS. The vessel will have 15,000BHP - 180 tonnes Bollard pull and DP1. Delivery is scheduled for early 2003.

    BUE Marine have placed an order for large icebreaking AHTS against a ten year contract with Agip KCO for work in the Caspian Sea. The vessel which will be built at Ulstein Verft is scheduled for delivery in November.

    DOF-Solstad JV in Brazil has ordered at UT755L PSV from Estaleiro Promar Rio for delivery in 2003. The building cost is reported to be $16 million.

    On the secondhand market, as previously reported in Offshore Shipping Online, Torch has purchased the Smit Express for a reported $9,750,000, with delivery scheduled for spring 2002.

    Tidewater has bought another newbuilding UT755 vessel from Norway.

    The AHTS Anglian Earl (built 1977 - 5750bhp) has been purchased by West African buyers on private terms. The original asking price was in excess of $1,500,000.
