    ASRY signs agreement with Rig Design Services

    ASRY (Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard) in Bahrain has signed a co-operationagreement with the London based engineering company. Rig Design Services ( RDS ) to expand both company's services in the field of offshore drill rig conversions and oil and gas related projects in the Middle East.

    Rig Design Services was formed in 1975 and has become established in the design of drilling systems for offshore platforms, mobile offshore drilling vessels andjack up drill rigs. The company employs some 250 engineers and offers a fall range of engineering and project management skills and services in the field of new buildings and conversion and upgrade work.

    ASRY has a proven track record in the repair and conversion business and is certified to ISO 9001-2000 for this type of work. With its facilities in Bahrain the company is able to undertake major conversions on both FSUs and FSOs as well as on a broad range of jack up drill rigs and work over rigs.

    Both companies are looking at major conversion and life extension programmes to a broad range of jack up rigs in the Middle East and believe that this joint co-operation will enable then to offer customers a total one stop shop capability, addressing everything from detailed design through to the actual conversion and upgrade of the vessels in the yard.
