Democrats seek Bush's support for drilling ban

    News // January 3, 2003
Knight Ridder Business Tribune reports that California Democrats are once again asking President Bush to stop a campaign that would allow more offshore oil drilling along the Central Coast of California.

The news organization said Representative Lois Capps and Senator Barbara Boxer have asked the President to abandon any attempts to appeal a recent federal appeals court decision that could stop new drilling.

Their letter urged Bush to work with California and its elected representatives on ways to terminate the 36 undeveloped leases that have been the focus of controversy for years.
