    News // December 6, 2002
Kvaerner Masa Marine (KMM) in the US says it was recently contracted by Itochu/NKK to develop an Icebreaking Supply Vessel design to meet or exceed the published requirements of ExxonMobil for year round operation in the Sakhalin Field.

The vessel, when built, will meet the requirements for DNV ICE-15, and be capable of breaking 1.5m of ice continuously at a speed of more than three knots.

More details of this design will follow as the project develops.
