    Cable ship named in Korea

    A ceremony at Hyundai Mipo shipyard in Korea has seen the first of two new cable ships for Dockwise, the Knight, formally named.

    The 8,500dwt cable ship will be capable of laying and retrieving fibre optic cables in water depths of up to 5,000m.

    The DP class vessels is capable of loading 7,500 tonnes of cable.

    The sister ship to the vessel, the Baron, is due to be delivered in 2002.
