Maridan Survey establishes itself as survey provider

    Vessel & ROV News // October 25, 2002
With recent surveys performed in the Gulf of Mexico with the MARIDAN 600 AUV onboard the Brooks McCall - Maridan Survey says it is now "established as a provider of a full spread of survey services to the offshore industry."

Maridan Survey says it has experienced a tremendous interest in the offshore survey market for its AUVs.

Eric Primeau, VP Maridan USA Inc said: "Since January we have successfully completed several projects and we have been through an extensive work-up period to implement the most efficient procedures and get our routines fine tuned. We have always made safety our prime concern and whilst during a work-up phase this might slow you down - this focus has delivered benefits in that we experienced zero incidents and our survey operations have been well rehearsed and efficient.Furthermore, we have started to develop a niche activity sector - "close platform surveys" - where we use the AUV to survey very close to platform structures, within 25m. We can now map with extremely high resolution the area around and in between the structure legs where previously it has not been possible."

"In several of our recent projects we also performed magnetometer surveys, using a traditionally towed instrument. This has demonstrated another key benefit of AUV technology - namely that using the AUV in parallel survey operations from a single vesselcan deliver gains in productivity and cost reductions."
