    Sonsub's Innovator overcomes loop currents

    Vessel & ROV News // July 18, 2003
Sonsub claims that during the recent wave of loop current incidents in the Gulf of Mexico, the company's Innovator ROV systems were the only units able to cope with the 3.5 + knot conditions.

Innovator 8, onboard the Discovery Spirit, was able to continue operations through the peak of the loop currents while making an extended dive to recover a BOP.

Innovator 9, working onboard the HOS Innovator, was called to the Mad Dog field to install an emergency plug on the Diamond Ocean Confidence, requiring the vehicle to work in the worst currents close to the surface, before returning to MC 778 to providewell monitoring ops for another drilling rig.
