Ulstein Design secures breakthrough order in Brazil

    News // June 10, 2005
Ulstein Design has sold two packages for platform supply vessels based on the ULSTEIN P106 to the Brazilian shipping company Companhia Brasileira de Offshore (CBO).

The ships will be built at Ebin shipyard in Rio.

The contract is Ulstein Design's first in the Brazilian market, and another step toward consolidating a position as an international supplier of designs for advanced offshore vessels.

The packages are for two different versions of an ULSTEIN P106 (the same design as Farstad Shipping's Far Splendour, which was delivered in December 2003).

While Far Splendour has diesel electric propulsion, these two vessels will have conventional diesel mechanical propulsion.

The difference between them will be their specialisation for carrying different types of cargoes - the first vessel will primarily transport diesel oil, while the second will be used for more general transportation purposes to oil installations on the Brazilian shelf.

The vessels will take about two years to complete.
