    Bollinger considers building new shipyard

    Yard News // June 6, 2003
Associated Press reports that Lockport, US-based Bollinger Shipyards has been invited by Terrebonne Parish to build a new shipyard on the site of the vacant Port Terrebonne.

AP said Bollinger Shipyards wants to build a shipyard employing 3,000 people to build military vessels.

Bollinger Shipyards and Incat Tasmania, an Australian company, formed a venture in 2000 to market and build aluminum, catamaran-style vessels for military and commercial customers.

The companies are awaiting the military's request for proposals, which should arrive by mid-June. A contract is likely to be awarded during the first quarter of 2004, the company said.
