    ENSCO earns MMS safety award

    News // May 9, 2003
ENSCO International Incorporated has announced that ENSCO Offshore Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary, has been awarded the US Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service 2002 National Safety Award for Excellence in the drilling contractor category.

The award was presented to Keith Bullard, General Manager of ENSCO Offshore Company, by Rebecca W Watson, Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management, Department of the Interior, and R M "Johnnie" Burton, Director, Minerals Management Service.

The SAFE Award "recognizes and commends companies that expend extra effort to conduct operations in a safe and pollution free manner by adhering to all regulations, employing trained and motivated personnel, and going the extra mile to enhance safety andenvironmental protection." The recipient is determined following a comprehensive review of compliance and incident data, and input from district and regional MMS offices.

ENSCO was also awarded the National SAFE Award in 2000, and was named one of the three finalists in 1999.

Carl Thorne, ENSCO's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "The MMS award for safety and environmental protection is particularly gratifying in that it recognizes our ongoing commitment to excellence relative to an ENSCO core value, preventingharm to people or the environment. ENSCO personnel are to be commended for their exemplary effort, and the contribution from our customers, vendors, and the MMS also must be recognized in light of the criticality of their participation in this team effort."
