First example of new walk-to-work gangway enters service

    Equipment & Technology // August 16, 2017

The first example of a new walk-to-work offshore access system developed by Barge Master and Bosch Rexroth has entered into operation on Vroon Offshore's subsea/walk-to-work vessel VOS Start.

The ship has been chartered by MHI Vestas Offshore for the installation for work on the Walney Extension offshore windfarm in the Irish Sea.

The gangway wass designed and built certified under DNV-GL's rules for motion-compensated gangways.

The motion-compensated gangway is mounted on a height-adjustable pedestal with an integrated elevator. The pedestal also makes it possible for the gangway to land at any height, keeping the gangway horizontal and providing stepless transfers.

Operated by one person, the new gangway is able to compensate for wave heights up to 3 meters (Hs).
