Allseas starts work on deepwater sections of TurkStream

    Projects and Operations // July 4, 2017

Allseas’ heavylift/pipelay vessel Pioneering Spirit has started pipelaying on the deepwater sections of the TurkStream gas pipeline.

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, made a visit to the vessel as it commenced pipelaying work. Mr Putin and Alexey Miller, chairman of the management committee of Gazprom PJSC, observed the vessel at work and visited the firing line where welding and coating processes are performed.

The TurkStream pipeline will export Russian gas through the Black Sea to Turkey and neighbouring countries. The first string of the gas pipeline will supply gas for Turkish consumers; the second string will deliver gas to southern and southeastern Europe. Each line will have the throughput capacity of 15.75 billion cubic metres of gas per year.

Another Allseas vessel, Audacia, commenced construction of the shallow water section of the pipeline in May.
