International oceanographics conference held at Beacon Innovation CentreNews // April 25, 2003
The conference was run by US company Coastal Oceanographics, Great Yarmouth based Maritech Consultants and Swindon organisation Del Norte Technology and provided an opportunity to find out more about Hypack, the PC based software for marine surveying developed by Coastal Oceanographics.
In addition, the event also allowed lecturers from local company Maritech to be trained and certified and further training courses on the software were also held for delegates.
NWES, Maritech, Petans, Great Yarmouth Marketing Initiative and the East of England Energy Group were some of the Norfolk organisations with a presence at the event which also saw exhibitors from international ports, harbours and survey companies.
John Balch, Strategic Director of Beacon Innovation Centre who administered the event said: "It was a real boost to have such a major event based here in Norfolk and it proved to be a huge hit with both national and international delegates. It was very successful and I hope that it will help to put Beacon and the local area on the map for other major events in this and other energy related fields."
The event attracted some 80 delegates, 25 exhibitors and around 250 exhibition visitors.
