    Balder beats the bidders

Contracts, Tenders and Rates // April 11, 2003
March saw B&N Viking Supply Ships of Norway obtain a 5-month plus options charter with Shell to support the semi-sub Jack Bates, starting in late April.

The Jack Bates is due to drill its first deepwater well on the Dooish location West of Ireland, with the second well to follow on the Ben Nevis location (UK Blk 219).

The two part tender process was issued in late February, initially calling for a technical response which once qualified, was followed up by an invited "online e-bid".

The winning "e-bid" was from the B&N Viking Supply Ship's Balder Viking. The vessel is to deliver with a 90mm chain gypsy to tally with the unique chain size of the Jack Bates.

Viking previously supported the Jack Bates when the rig drilled for Enterprise Oil in the Irish sector in 2002.
