Rates expected to pick up in short term, says broker

    News // March 28, 2003
In a statement released March 27th, Offshore Shipbrokers Ltd (OSL) in Aberdeen says activity on the spot market in the North Sea was "looking better", with a good number of fresh requirements out.

"The AHTS market is looking to tighten over the next few days with three rig moves now out and only moderate availability. Yesterday (March 26th) saw Kerr McGee fixing four AHTS for the rig move of the NTVL, paying up to 9,000 for the two Olympic vessels, with the fresh activity out today, however we expect to see the rates continue to climb significantly," said OSL in its daily report of March 27th.

OSL said PSV availability is better, however there were now several cargo requirements "out which should also see the rates picking up."
