    VOS Challenge joins Vroon fleet

    Vessel & ROV News // June 30, 2016

Another vessel has been delivered to Vroon Offshore. VOS Challenge was delivered to Vroon earlier in June from Fujian Southeast Shipyard (FSES) in Fuzhou. The vessel has since left China for Thailand, for delivery to charterer PTTEP.

VOS Challenge, a 65m anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel, is the first in a new series of six vessels under construction at the shipyard for Vroon.

The KCM 65m design, designed by Khiam Chuan Marine, is a DP2 unit with accommodation for 39 crew and other personnel, and boasts improved noise and vibration enhancements, a 425m2 clear deck area and anchor handling/towing winches of 1,500m x 64mm. The new AHTS is SPS2008-compliant, comes with super-silent bow thrusters and an optimised hull design for improved fuel efficiency.

On arrival in Thailand, the vessel will work for PTTEP in the Arthit and Bongkot fields, where it will primarily support drilling activities. Duties will include anchor-handling, towing and supply operations. The vessel will be managed by Vroon Offshore Services Singapore.
