VOS Star naming ceremony held - starts work for VBMSVessel & ROV News // June 29, 2016
A naming ceremony has taken place for the latest addition to Vroon Offshore's fleet, the subsea support vessel (SSV) VOS Star.
VOS Star is a DP2, SPS-coded, 68m SSV and one of two newbuilding SSVs to have been constructed at Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China.
After arriving in Amsterdam earlier this month, an active heave-compensated crane was installed on the vessel. The ship's first charter is with VBMS, for whom the vessel will undertake subsea cable retrieval and cable lay services.
To undertake these tasks the vessel is being mobilised with a ROV, jetting tools and cable reels. The active heave compensated crane will play an important role in the project too.
