Focal Marine-designed DSV and CSV launched

    Vessel & ROV News // June 17, 2016

May 2016 saw the launch of two DP3 offshore vessels designed by Focal Marine & Offshore, a 105m Focal 523 DSV and a 115m Focal 530 CSV.

The Focal 523 DSV has diesel-electric propulsion with Voith propulsors. The vessel is installed with a built-in 15-man SAT diving system for 300m, 150 tonne AHC subsea crane and ROV facilities including hangar for dual work-class ROVs. Fully natural-lighted accommodation is provided for 120 people, with 'hotel class' living facilities onboard. The vessel was built at Mawei Shipyard.

The Focal 530 CSV is also a diesel-electric unit, with azimuthing propulsion, two offshore cranes, a walk-to-work AHC gangway, and accommodation for 300 people. The design has Safe Return to Port, as required by the SPS Code, and all cabins have natural light as per MLC 2006 requirement. In addition, the design includes the ABS crew habitability notation HAB (WB) and environment-friendly notation of ENVIRO. A high level of DP capability is achieved by five thrusters. The vessel is being built at Huangpu Shipyard.
Both vessels are with firm charter contract in position.
