Polish yard delivers wave-piecing support vessel to SecundaYard News // May 18, 2016
On 12 May 2016 Remontowa Shipbuilding delivered the multipurpose offshore support vessel Avalon Sea.
The vessel was built for Secunda in Canada and will be chartered by ExxonMobil Canada to support the Hibernia and Hebron fields offshore Newfoundland and Labrador.
The vessel will act as an AHTS and provide crew transport and evacuation services when required, transport a range of cargo, and function as an emergency tug, oil recovery and firefighting unit. The vessel will also engage in ice management when required.
Designed by Rolls-Royce, the vessel has a wave-piercing hullform and has ice class 1C and a hybrid propulsion system.
