Ulstein is building the SOV for Bernhard Schulte Offshore.
Ulstein Verft in Norway has launched its first service operation vessel (SOV) for the offshore wind industry. It is building the vessel for Bernhard Schulte Offshore.
Along with a sister vessel of the same type, it will work for Siemens once delivered. The first vessel will be used to service the Gemini offshore windfarm in The Netherlands.
Both vessels are based on the SX175 design from Ulstein, which has the now-famous Ulstein X-Bow and the newly-developed X-Stern hullform.
The vessels have accommodation for 60 people, of which 40 cabins are for windfarm technicians.
The detailed arrangement and equipment for the vessels was developed in cooperation with Windea Offshore GmbH & Co KG, which is the Bernhard Schulte Offshore’s affiliate for offshore wind projects.
