Briggs unveils new facility in North of England

Pollution control specialist Briggs has invested in a new Middlesborough, UK-based facility and embarked on a joint venture to widen its service base.

In a move aimed at expanding its presence in the UK and enhancing its portfolio of services, Briggs Environmental Services has announced a joint venture agreement with US company, NPS Corporation.

The new base in Middlesborough is intended to consolidate Briggs' oil spill response capabilities in the North East of England, while providing warehousing capacity for the distribution of spill control and spill containment products throughout the country.

Under the joint venture agreement, the newly formed organisation, Briggs Spill Control, will manufacture and supply a wide range of Spilfyter(r) brand adsorbent materials, wiping products and specialised spill response products used in the industrial workplace, marine, inland oil and chemical industries across the UK and Eire.

The facility's warehouse covers 15,500 sq ft and will store a range of products including adsorbents and oil and chemical spill accessories. The newly assembled oil spill response team will service an area spanning from the North East and West of Englandto the Borders and South to Yorkshire.
