DP Centre expanding into Singapore; installs A series gear

    News // January 31, 2003
The Dynamic Positioning Centre (DP Centre), an international provider of dynamic positioning training, systems integration and consultancy services, is to open a further DP training school in Singapore following the signing of a co-operation agreement with Singapore Maritime Academy which is part of the Singapore Polytechnic.

Prompted by the successful launch of The Dynamic Positioning Centre's state of the art facilities in London early last year, the Singapore training school will open in March 2003, adjacent to the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club.

Colin Soanes, Senior DP instructor explained: "This is a really positive move for The Dynamic Positioning Centre, providing students in the region with an excellent opportunity to undertake Nautical Institute accredited DP courses without the additionaltravel expense".

Over the past year, The DP Centre which is part of the C-MAR Group of companies has seen a significant increase in demand from students based in South East Asia for high quality simulated DP training.

As well as induction and advanced courses, the Singapore DP Centre will also offer familiarisation and appreciation courses, enabling clients to keep abreast of new standards and techniques, and to equip those who are not familiar with the DP Industry with the appropriate knowledge and skills.

The DP Centre has also announced the installation of the latest Alstom 'A-Series' dynamic positioning (DP) system at their state-of-the-art-training centre in London.

The DP Centre is the first dynamic positioning school in the world to acquire the 'A' Series DP system with full simulator capability and forms part of the centre's 250,000 expansion plans.
