    Wintershall contract goes to Subsea 7

    Wintershall Noordzee BV has awarded Subsea 7 a $14 million contract for the subsea works associated with the L5-B to L8-P4 Pipeline and Umbilical Installation Project in the Dutch Sector of the North Sea.

    The scope of work to be performed includes the onshore fabrication and installation of approximately 6.4km of 10in OD (outer diameter), super chrome 13 per cent pipeline and an electro/hydraulic control umbilical between the new L5-B platform and the existing L8-P4 platform.

    In order to facilitate the tie-in of the pipeline at L8-P4, retrofit riser clamps and a riser are to be installed on the platform. Project management and installation engineering work will be carried out by Subsea 7 in Aberdeen with fabrication being performed at the company's Leith spoolbase.

    Offshore installation work will be carried out in the third quarter of 2003 and will include the installation, trenching and burial of both pipeline and umbilical, spoolpiece tie-ins and umbilical j-tube pulls.

    The scope of work also includes hydrotesting, dewatering and drying of the pipeline.Vessels likely to be utilised from the Subsea 7 fleet are the Pipelay Vessel, Skandi Navica, the ROV and Survey Vessel Kommandor Subsea 2000, and the Diving Support Vessel Pelican.
