Perry Slingsby Systems wins contract from Canyon offshore

    Vessel & ROV News // January 17, 2003
Perry Slingsby Systems has won a contract for the design and manufacture of an advanced Triton(r) T750 ROV Trenching System from Canyon Offshore, Aberdeen. The 750hp trencher will be used to support Canyon's International pipeline and cable protection services.

The scope of supply includes the design of a new generation of trenching vehicle capable of producing stable trenches to 3m in depth.

The Triton(r) T750 is optimised for burial of flowlines and cables of up to 360mm in diameter but is configured such that it may also bury flowlines with transitions with an outside diameter of up to 600mm.

The vehicle design provides 1.1m of ground clearance thereby ensuring unhindered access to pre-laid pipelines and incorporates independent water jetting and dredging systems. The Triton(r) T750 can be re-configured to provide trench back-fill operationsonce the product has been laid in the trench.

The scope of supply also includes the design of a new generation of in-house surface handling system capable of safely deploying and recovering the 20 ton vehicle in sea state 6 conditions, while minimising the amount of deck space required for the installation and providing maximum access for maintenance of the vehicle.
