    Rieber orders ice-breaking AHTS for long-term charter

    Fairplay (www.fairplay.co.uk) reports that Rieber Shipping, the Norwegian offshore and survey vessel specialist, has placed an order with Aker Langsten shipyard in Norway for an ice-breaking tug for long term charter to a Russian unit of the Exxon Mobil.

    Fairplay said the 71m overall vessel will have an engine output of 11,000kW and will enter service in 2006 at the DeKastri oil terminal on the Sakhalin Islandunder 15-year contract, plus option for extensions, to Exxon Neftegas Ltd.

    The ship will assist tankers and conduct ice-breaking operations at theterminal that is located on the north coast of the Pacific Island.
