    Skandi Ašu gets pipelay tower

    Vessel & ROV News // February 5, 2016

Huisman has installed a 650-tonne pipelay system on board the DOF-owned and Technip-managed pipelay vessel, Skandi Açu

The newly installed 650-tonne vertical lay tower will be tested before the vessel leaves the yard in Schiedam in April. Upon delivery, the Vard 3 05-design vessel will mobilise to Brazil to begin an eight-year firm contract with Petrobras at its pre-salt fields offshore Brazil.

Skandi Açu, a DP 2 vessel, has a length of 151m and is equipped with 2,500 tonne and 1,500 tonne underdeck carousels, as well as two work-class ROVs.

Seabroker said a sister vessel to Skandi Açu, Skandi Búzios, is due for delivery later in 2016.
