C-bed to take delivery of new offshore accommodation unit

    Vessel & ROV News // January 22, 2016

C-bBed Floating Hotels in The Netherlands is due to take delivery of a new offshore accommodation vessel for the offshore wind market shortly. The company says the vessel, Wind Innovation, is “tailor-made” to help optimise the installation and commissioning stages on offshore windfarms.

The dynamic positioning class 2 (DP2) vessel has Comfort Class 3 certification and will operate as a ‘walk-to-work’ unit. The company says that although Wind Innovation is a smaller than some of its other vessels, it is a more advanced vessel. The new unit has accommodation for 90 people in total and has a high standard of accommodation and a motion compensated gangway.

Wind Innovation is flagged in the UK, which has very strict safety requirements, and is intended to provide what the company describes as "4-four star hotel-level service.” Wind Innovation is due to be ready for its first offshore wind project in the North Sea in the first quarter of 2016.
