    Cummins engines for SLICE crewboat

    Cummins has been awarded a contract to supply the main engines for two Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) crewboat being built by FBMA Marine Inc in the Philippines for Mexico's Hoteleria y Servicios Petroleros.

    The 28 by 16m vessels utilise a 'Sea Slice' hullform to operate at 20 knots in Sea State 3. Power for the vessels will be provided by a pair of Cummins KTA50-M2 engines. Each engine will generate 1,800hp (1,343 kW) at 1,900rpm. The engines will turn controllable pitch propellers through reduction gears.
