    Subsea 7 secures ChevronTexaco contract

    Subsea 7 has announced the award by ChevronTexaco of the Alba Extreme South Phase 2 (AXS-2) - Additional Subsea Facilities contract with a value of approximately US$9.0m.

    The AXS Phase 1 development was installed by Subsea 7 in 2001/2002 andcame on stream in October 2002. The development included a bundledpipeline system incorporating an end manifold. This manifold is used toprovide facilities for six production wells and the produced fluids arethen exported via the bundled pipelines to the Alba Northern Platform.The planned extension to the subsea AXS facilities makes use of the samepipelines and control system installed for Phase 1.

    Phase 2 will consist of an additional three production wells, all routedthrough a new pipework manifold which is in turn tied back to the Phase1 manifold and pipelines.

    The Alba field is situated in Block 16/26 of the UK sector of the NorthSea in water depths of approximately 140m.

    The project scope of work including manifold structure installation,tie-ins and system testing will be undertaken by the construction support vessel Nordica and the diving support vessel Rockwater 1. Offshore installation is due to take place in September/October 2004.
