    Arctech lays keel of first of icebreaking quartet for Sovcomflot

    Arctech Helsinki shipyard in Finland has laid the keel of the first of four icebreaking multipurpose supply vessels it is contracted to build for Sovcomflot.

    The vessel will be capable of breaking through ice as thick as 1.5m and will be outfitted for emergency evacuation, rescue and firefighting operations, oil spill response and platform support activities.

    Once delivered, the vessel will serve facilities in the Sakhalin 2 region, working for Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd.
