Chouest cancels icebreaking anchor handlersVessel & ROV News // November 4, 2015
Seabrokers reports that Edison Chouest Offshore has cancelled two newbuild 27,000 bhp AHTS icebreakers that were to be built at its LAShip yard in Houma, Louisiana.
The vessels were due to be delivered from the first quarter of 2017. However, citing market sources, Seabrokers said it is now unclear whether the A3-Arctic Class vessels will actually be constructed.
Chouest's decision comes in the wake of Shell’s recent decision to halt its operations offshore Alaska "for the foreseeable future," following disappointing results from its 2015 drilling campaign.
